Warhammer...It's OVER Between Us!

Blaster blogs about his painful (or bitter, depending on how you look at it) break up with WarHammer Online.  Baby..it's not me..it's you.

The mail server is terrible! You must be using the same server cloud for the auction house because both seem to see performance problems at the same time. I have items that I have lost in the mailbox because I cannot get them out of the mailbox because it is so slow and I refuse to log in at 3am just to get crap out of my mailbox! There is no excuse for such poor performance out of a A+ title like WAR (well actually it feels more like a C+ title).

Fix the balance problems between Order and Destruction. People get discouraged when they are on a server that is constantly unbalanced. I have had to change servers once already and when I got to my new server you shut down several servers and brought the balance issue, I was trying to escape, to my server.  I understand this was to try and solve the balance issues on other servers but, instead of fixing the issue, you only managed to consolidate the problem to the few remaining servers. Why do you not have some form of automated flood control for server balance?

You need to reach out to the community that is left or lose them for good! I don't know how you prioritize defects/decide on new functionality but you should leave it up to the community to decide where you should focus your efforts. After all, it is the community that you are wanting to please and, judging by the mass exodus from the game, you have no idea how to do that.

The last live event (The Wild Hunt) was a disaster. I spent most of the week leading up to the holiday season and the holiday weekend itself trying to get all of the tome unlocks and couldn’t.  Some might dismiss this statement outright and say I am exaggerating my effort or that I must be incompetent.  If you believe that is the case then, congratulations, that is exactly the kind of thinking that has gotten you the low subscriber numbers that you have today! The unbalanced RVR coupled with the buggy instance made the live event the worst experience I have ever had in an MMO. Did you know that there was a way to skip three of the minor bosses using a glitch in the terrain? Did the QA department look at this instance before it went live? Did they run boundary test cases checking for scalable terrain where it shouldn’t be scalable? Do you still have a QA department after EA fired the one in Atlanta? Maybe I should be grateful that this bug was missed. The instance was way too long and way too difficult to run it enough times for every member of the group to get the cloak that dropped off the final boss (which was really the only incentive to do the instance).  This glitch saved groups some time but even then it was hard to find people to participate in the instance. Most of the players were too busy trying to get the ridiculously hard to get RVR tome unlocks. The final boss battle was glitch too with portals that instant died, instant death with no lightning around you…etc.  I love the Warhammer license... but my love of Warhammer cannot get me past all of the balance issues, bugs, lack of dungeons, broken PQ’s, slow mail server, slow auction house…etc. As a Warhammer fan and an MMO player I deserve better than this.
