The VP of marketing for EA once refused review copies of games and the offer to purchase ad space from Gameinatrix.com, stating ‘you are a niche site and women only really play The Sims” as the reason.

in 2008 website Marketing Chit chat stated that 40% of all gamers were women and that number was predicted to double this year.

 

While watching Spike TV, we noticed that there were no less than 6 ads for Halo Reach in the span of an hour. How many of these ads aired on femme-centric networks like WE, Lifetime and Oxygen?None.

With that and the recession in mind, can game companies afford to not advertise to the larger population of gamers? Ones who obviously don’t ALL play The Sims, that is?
